German Strawberry Biscuit Torte #Recipe

On our recent trip to Germany this summer, we were greeted almost everywhere we went with this amazing Strawberry Biscuit Torte/cake. It was yummy and my daughter ate 2-3 pieces at a time. I was amazed at how much she ate while we were in Germany, especially since she usually was a picky eater.

I knew I had to check out the recipe and asked one of my aunts if she would mind sharing. She was happy too and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. I couldn’t wait to get back to Florida and dish this simple, yet elegant dessert or coffee cake up for my family. In Germany they usually serve cakes or tortes like this for coffee break in the afternoon. Let me tell you, we ate a big Breakfast, a big lunch, big coffee break a big dinner every single day as well as at least one ice cream break every day, I have no idea how people can eat THAT much food every day and stay skinny as they all seemed to be. But let me tell you, it was delicious, every single meal! I enjoyed it, not complaint a bit and well, only gained 5 extra pounds, so what; it was worth it.

It was so simple and turned out beautifully. You can now, once the biscuit shells are cooled, sprinkle a little baking powder on them so the fruit won’t get them soggy, but not a must, we always do it. I used Strawberries, but you can use any fruit you like including canned fruit like peaches. A lot of people make a combination like bananas, Strawberries, mandarins, pineapples and much more. There is a Fruit Glaze you can put on the Tortes to keep all your fruit neatly in place, I know World Market sells it, but not sure if any other store would have it or if that’s a product normally used in the US. Would love to know if you have a glaze, it’s similar to gelatin. Once fruit is on, they are ready to serve. Add whip cream and enjoy with a cup of Tea, Coffee or just on it’s own.

I used silicone Tart pans but you can use any Tart Cake Pan size, large or small, metal or silicone if you like. What fruit would you like to top the Biscuit bottom? Would love to hear your ideas.

My family loved my Strawberry Biscuit Torte Version and couldn’t get enough of them, I had to make a second batch just so they all got extras. It was delicious.
